Long Bayou Preserve: A New Site Plan and a Look at Construction

Roads and utilities are moving along, and a beautiful new site plan finally lets you see all 37 homesites between Long Bayou and the Intracoastal Waterway.

I just heard from the team at Long Bayou Preserve in Orange Beach, and I love this update. They sent over a brand-new site plan, and it is the clearest picture yet of what this little peninsula is going to become.

The plan was created by their partner, Robert McCown of McCown Design, to give everyone a better vision of the project. Anyone who has been following Long Bayou Preserve knows how helpful that is. A homesite…

What I Am Watching in Orange Beach Condos This Week

511 active Orange Beach condominiums—twelve more than last Tuesday. From a $200,000 studio to $5,895,000 new construction on the Pass. Seventy already spoken for.

When a buyer asks me where to begin with an Orange Beach condo, I do not start with a spreadsheet. I start with the sand, the Pass, and the buildings I actually walk.

I have advised buyers and sellers on this coast for years, full-time. This is Orange Beach Condo Watch for Tuesday,…

Ono Harbour at Sunset | My Sanctuary on Ono Island

Ono Harbour · Ono Island

Ono Harbour at Sunset

Salt air. Marsh grass. Pretty boats on still water. Soft peach light over the harbour—my sanctuary on Ono Island, so close to Orange Beach.

Ono Harbour is one of my favorite neighborhoods on Ono Island.

I am Meredith with Search The Gulf—a homeowner and real estate advisor here. Many nights after I get home from work, this is where I go to decompress. I come for the salt air and the marsh, for the pretty boats resting in their slips, for the soft sunsets and the coastal birds, and for the quiet that settles over the water when the day finally lets go.

It reminds me of South Carolina, where I was born and…

Parasailing Over Orange Beach With Sky Surfer

Orange Beach Lifestyle

The Morning My Friend Surprised Me With a Sky Surfer Parasailing Adventure

One spontaneous “yes” gave me an unforgettable new view of Orange Beach, the Gulf of America and the coastal community I feel so blessed to call home.

It began as a simple invitation to breakfast.

On the Sunday before Labor Day, my friend asked if I wanted to meet her that morning. I happily said yes, thinking we would enjoy breakfast, catch up and then I would head to the office. I had quite a bit of work waiting for me, and anyone who knows me well knows that I am very good at finding a reason to work—even on a holiday weekend.

In the middle of breakfast, my friend looked at me and casually asked, “Do you want to go…

The scene

White hulls, wooden docks, deep blue water

When I look at a marina morning on Cotton Bayou, I notice the same things buyers notice. Clean white sportfishing boats lined tight along the pier. Weathered pilings reflected in still water. A sky that looks like it was made for listing photos.

This stretch sits in Orange Beach, Alabama, with easy access toward Terry Cove and out toward Perdido Pass. It is the kind of waterway setting that makes coastal living feel real — not a brochure, but a place you…

Orange Beach and Ono Island Real Estate Update September

From Meredith

The Market, in My Words

Orange Beach, Ono Island & Gulf Shores Real Estate Market Update
August 27–September 2, 2026

This week along the Alabama Gulf Coast was a wonderful example of why I never judge a market by one headline—or even one average. Across the five segments I track in this report, 37 properties closed between August 27 and September 2, compared with 19 the week before. That is a meaningful lift in activity, but the price story was much more nuanced.

Orange Beach condo and townhome closings made the biggest jump, Gulf Shores houses and condos also gained momentum, and Ono Island held steady at three home sales. At the same time, several average sale prices moved lower because the mix of properties changed.…

A starting point

When a buyer asks me what kind of pool they should put on Ono Island, they are rarely asking for a grotto. They want a backyard that matches the water they came for. Simple. Beautiful. Modern when it wants to be. Not showy.

I advise buyers and sellers full-time, and have for years. Advising clients on building on Ono Island is one of my favorite…
