Today on Ono Island in Orange Beach, I put together one of my favorite kinds of neighbor gifts: something warm, simple, and genuinely useful the moment it hits the counter. A fresh baked loaf, a good brie, and fig preserves (plus a few figs if you have them) feels both effortless and elevated.
My not-so-secret bread trick is giving frozen dough time to thaw and “dry” at room temperature first. That small pause is what helps the crust bake up beautifully browned.
