HARMONY BY THE SEA: MY UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE AT THE 30A SONGWRITERS FESTIVAL
This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to attend the Songwriters Festival in 30A, Florida, and it was an experience that will stay with me for a long time. Imagine this: stunning Gulf Coast views, the salty breeze, and melodies floating in the air. What a beautiful backdrop for an amazing event, spanning over 30 venues along 30A, including the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Boulevard, North Park in Miramar Beach, Drive the Coast in Santa Rosa Beach, AJ's Grayton Beach with its two vibrant stages, and The Bay, which hosted the energetic "Late Check-Out Party."
Each venue brought its own unique charm, creating a perfect synergy between artist and audience. There’s something truly special about the intimate connection that happens during live performances in smaller, thoughtfully chosen settings. This festival is more than just music; it’s about storytelling, emotion, and community.
I had the pleasure of watching an incredible lineup of artists. Amos Lee delivered his soulful and heartfelt tunes, with his voice resonating through the crowd like a warm embrace. Maggie Rose, who’s expecting her first child with her husband Austin, captivated the audience with her dynamic range, effortlessly blending country, soul, and rock into her performance. Larry Mitchell, a Grammy-winning guitarist, showcased his extraordinary instrumental talent, weaving melodies that seemed to dance through the air.
The Secret Sisters brought their signature harmonies to life, wrapping the audience in their nostalgic blend of country and Americana. The Devon Allman Project brought southern rock to the forefront, paying homage to a storied musical legacy with electrifying energy. The Jayhawks, with their alt-country flair, delivered a set filled with heartfelt lyrics and rich melodies. And, of course, Melissa Etheridge—a powerhouse of rock—gave a performance that was both raw and exhilarating, leaving the audience spellbound.
What stood out to me the most was the synergy between the artists and the audience. It wasn’t just about playing songs; it was about sharing stories, emotions, and experiences. You could feel the connection, the passion, and the mutual appreciation in every note played and every lyric sung. It’s these moments that make the Songwriters Festival so unique and memorable.
If you’re as enchanted by live music and storytelling as I am, mark your calendars now for the 2026 Songwriters Festival, scheduled for January 15-19. This event is not just a concert series—it’s a celebration of music, creativity, and community set against the breathtaking beauty of 30A. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, I can’t recommend it enough. I’ll certainly be there, soaking up every melody and moment.
