As a homeowner and real estate advisor on Ono Island, I’m often asked, “What amenities does Ono Island offer?” The answer is—quite a few, and they’re part of what makes this private, gated island one of the most desirable places to live on the Gulf Coast.
Tucked just west of Perdido Pass in Orange Beach, Ono Island combines privacy and natural beauty with a sense of community that’s hard to find anywhere else. Whether you're looking for recreational options, security, or opportunities to connect with neighbors, Ono Island offers something for everyone.
The Ono North Clubhouse is a hub for activity, located just minutes inside the back gate. Amenities here include:
A sparkling outdoor pool, ideal for cooling off on warm Gulf Coast afternoons
An indoor heated pool for year-round swimming and exercise
A fitness center equipped with cardio machines, free weights, and strength-training equipment
A weight room for more serious training routines
Men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers and restrooms
Many residents start their mornings at the fitness center or bring their families for an afternoon swim. It’s a gathering place that supports both healthy living and neighborhood connection.
Adjacent to the Harriet Cockwell Center, there’s a thoughtfully maintained green space that serves as a gathering spot for residents of all ages. Tucked near the Ono Island water tower—which is operated by the Orange Beach Water Authority—and conveniently close to the central boat launch, this area features a well-equipped playground that's perfect for morning playdates or unwinding after school. On select weekends, local food trucks roll in, adding a festive and casual way for neighbors to connect. You'll also find additional tennis courts, making this central hub on Ono Island not only recreational but a true extension of the community lifestyle.
Ono Island provides 24/7 gated security, with guards stationed at both the main gate and the back gate. In addition, we have our own fire station staffed by trained professionals and emergency medical technicians (EMTs)—available around the clock. For residents, this level of care and security brings an unparalleled peace of mind.
Boaters love the private boat launch, located within the island’s gated perimeter. It’s an easy and secure place to launch your vessel, whether you're heading into Bayou St. John or out into the Gulf. Many of my friends and neighbors enjoy early morning fishing trips or sunset cruises—without ever leaving the island to launch.
The Harriet Cockwell Center, or HCC as it’s affectionately called, is more than a meeting space—it's the heartbeat of island life. This is where the Ono Island HOA meetings are held, but it also hosts a variety of events that bring the community together.
One of the most popular monthly traditions is Steak Night, open to all Ono Island residents and their guests. It’s a casual, fun event that feels like a big neighborhood cookout. It's also where you’ll hear about new happenings, catch up with friends, and get to know new residents.
Other community highlights include:
Ladies Club
Men’s Club
Gardening Club
And rotating seasonal and social events throughout the year
These groups offer residents a chance to get involved, share interests, and truly enjoy the sense of community that defines life on Ono Island.
When showing property on the island, I always highlight the amenities because they add tremendous value—not just in quality of life but also in resale potential. Buyers appreciate the gated access, on-island services, and well-maintained facilities. These features make owning property on Ono Island more than just a home—it’s a lifestyle.
If you're interested in learning more about homes for sale on Ono Island, or if you’d like to tour the clubhouse or see what amenities this private coastal enclave offers, I’d love to show you around.
