Harbor Cove Condos in Orange Beach, Alabama: A Boater’s Map Guide to Slips, Docks, and Marina Proximity

Harbor Cove sits in one of my favorite boating pockets of Orange Beach because it behaves like a true “leave-the-truck-parked” waterfront lifestyle. You’re near marinas, you’re close to dockside food at places like Avenue Pub, and you’re positioned for quick runs toward Perdido Pass, Old River, and the back bays depending on the day’s weather window.

My Harbor Cove mindset: I treat the boat slip as part real estate, part equipment. The view sells the dream, but the slip measurements and lift capacity decide whether the day-to-day feels effortless.


What the docks are like at Harbor Cove

Harbor Cove has a private marina setup with two piers and 60 total slips, and the condo association states there is an assigned boat slip for every owner.  This is one of the most attractive “boating-forward” features in this stretch of Orange Beach because you’re not guessing if you can secure access later.

Many Harbor Cove listings also describe slips being paired with lifts (and in some cases larger, upgraded lifts). 


Boat slip sizes and the kinds of boats they can accommodate

Harbor Cove slip sizes can be unit-specific. What I see most often in published listings is a common slip length around 30 feet, plus some larger deeded slips around 36 feet, and occasional “extra-large” slips described as accommodating 36 feet plus

Assigned 30’ slip + lift  Many bay boats, pontoons, and a wide range of 20–28’ center consoles, assuming your beam is reasonable for the dock layout. If your boat is close to 30’ LOA, docking comfort can depend on swim platforms, bow pulpit, and how you like to rig lines and fenders.
Deeded 36’ slip + lift (one example is a 12,000 lb lift)  Larger center consoles and boats that start to feel “nearshore capable,” plus some smaller sportfishing profiles depending on beam and draft. Lift capacity becomes just as important as length. I like to confirm the lift rating, cradle/bunks, and the boat’s real wet weight.
Extra-large slip  36’+ with a 20,000 lb lift  This can open the door for heavier boats and more substantial builds, but it is not representative of every slip in the community. “Largest of boats” language is marketing. I still verify the slip’s measured footprint, piling placement, and turning radius in the basin.
Deeded slip + lift + storage ( deeded slip and bi-annual storage) A strong option for owners who want boating access without hunting for trailer storage off-site. Storage and launch logistics matter if you do not keep the boat in the water year-round. I always confirm how “drive-up” loading works.
Why I do not quote a single “official” Harbor Cove slip size for every unit

Harbor Cove is marketed with assigned slip access, but the length, lift, and even the convenience of that slip can vary by unit and by slip assignment. The best process is: match the condo unit to the slip number, confirm the slip’s measured dimensions, then confirm lift rating and rules.

Why Harbor Cove is attractive to boaters

Assigned slip culture

The association describes an assigned slip for every owner, which changes the ownership experience. 

Lift-ready setup

 Slips are paired with lifts, including examples with 12,000 lb and 20,000 lb lifts. 

Marina neighborhood energy

You are near working marinas and services. Hudson Marina nearby is known for on-water outings and pontoon rentals (17’–30’), which is a practical perk when friends want to join the water day without bringing another boat. 

Real “weekend rhythm” convenience

Harbor Cove is the kind of place where you can run down, cast off, and be back in time for a simple dinner near the docks. That rhythm is why boating condos hold their appeal in Orange Beach year after year.


My quick Harbor Cove boat-fit checklist

1) Confirm LOA against the slip length

I like margin. A true 30’ boat can feel tight in a 30’ slip once you account for platforms and how you tie up.

2) Check beam, not just length

Beam is the day-to-day comfort factor. If the basin is busy on a windy afternoon, beam decides whether docking feels easy.

3) Validate lift capacity and configuration

Published examples show lifts ranging from 12,000 lb to 20,000 lb depending on the unit. 

4) Ask about trailer and launch logistics

Some listings reference trailer storage and a boat launch, which can be a major advantage if you are not keeping a boat in the water full-time.
