My Boating Experience

Personally, I own a Jon boat, which I find perfect for navigating the calm waters of the back bays and Mobile Bay. It’s small, manageable, and ideal for those tucked-away spots where redfish are abundant. Boats come in all shapes, sizes, and price points. Smaller boats like mine are budget-friendly and easy to maintain. Larger vessels, like sportfishing yachts, are a bigger investment but offer the amenities you’ll need for extended trips.

A family member reminded me recently, “Don’t just think about the purchase price. Maintenance, fuel, and storage costs add up quickly.”

3. Storage Options
Where you’ll store your boat is just as important as choosing the right model. If you’re a homeowner with a private boat slip or boathouse, you’ll need to ensure it accommodates your vessel’s size.

For those without private storage, options include local marinas such as Zeke’s Landing, The Wharf, or Orange Beach Marina. Orange Beach Marina, in particular, is a favorite among boaters with its stunning yachts and convenient location.
