What Is a Geothermal System?

Geothermal systems use the earth’s stable underground temperature to heat and cool your home. Here on the Gulf Coast, where surface temperatures fluctuate with the seasons, the temperature just a few feet below ground remains relatively constant year-round—usually around 55 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

These systems use a network of underground pipes (known as a loop system) to transfer heat to and from the ground. In the summer, they pull heat from your home and send it into the earth. In the winter, they do the opposite—drawing that stored warmth back into your home. It’s clean, renewable, and efficient.
