What was once a quiet stretch of land known locally as Goat Island has now become one of the Gulf Coast’s most desirable addresses. And today, Ono Island has officially entered a new chapter as a premier luxury enclave, with recent record-breaking sales proving its strength alongside top-tier markets like 30A and Destin.


Record-Breaking Sales Over $7 Million

Over the past year, several remarkable sales have reshaped the market on Ono Island:

  • A 7,360 sq ft Gold Fortified estate on River Road sold for $5,100,000 in August 2025.

  • A 7,840 sq ft waterfront residence on Ono Boulevard closed for $7,200,000 in August 2025, one of the highest sales in island history.

  • The same Ono Boulevard property had previously sold in 2022 for $6,750,000, showing how quickly values are appreciating at the top of the market.

These transactions highlight a major milestone for our island. A decade ago, $3 million was considered top-end. Today, buyers are confidently investing well beyond $5 million – signaling the strength, demand, and future of Ono Island real estate.


How Ono Island Compares to 30A and Destin

As someone licensed in both Alabama and Florida, I’m often asked how Ono compares to nearby luxury markets like 30A and Destin. The answer is: each has its own character and appeal.

  • Privacy and Exclusivity – Ono Island is guard-gated, with no public access and no commercial businesses. In contrast, 30A and Destin thrive on tourism, shops, and heavy seasonal crowds. Ono is designed to be a true residential retreat.

  • Waterfront Lifestyle – Ono offers deep-water canals and private docks with direct Gulf access, making it perfect for boaters. 30A is more about beachfront living, while Destin combines both boating and tourism.

  • Pricing – Gulf-front properties in 30A often exceed $8M–$10M. Ono Island’s record sales are now in the $5M–$7M+ range, offering more space and dockage at a relative value.
