Boat Fire and Rescue Response in Orange Beach: June 30 Incident

By Meredith Amon, Licensed in Alabama and Florida

Orange Beach, Alabama — On June 30, 2025, the Orange Beach Fire and Rescue team responded to a rapidly escalating boat fire that broke out shortly after 4 PM. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene by boat, where they encountered an intense blaze on the vessel identified as the "ANDIAMO."

Initial efforts to extinguish the flames were successful, but the fire reignited with greater intensity. Meanwhile, a nearby yacht untethered itself from the dock, adding to the tense atmosphere as onlookers anxiously observed two adjacent vessels drifting dangerously close to the growing fire. The situation intensified as the fire continued to spread.

As land-based emergency responders arrived, the fire-weakened "ANDIAMO" drifted toward the nearby charter boat, the "Emerald Spirit." Thankfully, quick intervention from the water rescue team helped prevent extensive damage to the Spirit, with early reports indicating that the damage was mostly cosmetic.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion on the ANDIAMO may have been caused by malfunctioning blowers and the presence of fuel in the inboard system. When the vessel was started, a buildup of volatile vapors seems to have triggered the explosive event. Authorities will continue to investigate the cause and extent of the damage.

Two individuals from the ANDIAMO were taken to the Baldwin Health Freestanding Emergency Department in Gulf Shores by Orange Beach Fire Rescue 2 with minor injuries. At present, the boat is sunken, with its bow up and the majority of the vessel submerged in water. Authorities are still assessing the situation.
