The Canal Road Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway in Orange Beach, Alabama, will be closed to marine traffic from August 11 through August 15, 2025 due to ongoing bridge construction. Why the Closure Is Happening
The bridge construction is part of a major infrastructure project to widen and modernize Canal Road (also known as Alabama State Route 180). The bridge is being improved to help alleviate traffic congestion and accommodate the increasing number of vehicles traveling between Foley and the beaches of Orange Beach and Perdido Key.
But during this phase of construction, the Intracoastal Waterway will be completely closed to marine traffic from Monday, August 11 through Friday, August 15. This includes all boaters—whether you're traveling from Terry Cove, Bear Point, or heading west toward The Wharf or Bon Secour.
What This Means for Boaters and Waterfront Property Owners
