Schools for Ono Island Residents
It’s important to note that the island is not part of the Orange Beach school system. Children here are zoned for schools in Foley, but can apply to Orange Beach schools. If accepted, they pay a tuition fee for access to these schools.

The Ono Island Property Owners Association (POA) dues are approximately $2,000 per year, while the Fire Authority dues are around $1,000 per year, ensuring the continued operation of the island’s independent fire department. For properties located in Ono North, an annual membership to the recreation center is required, while properties outside of Ono North have the option to join for $500 per year. Additionally, buyers should be aware of the $8,000 transfer fee paid at the time of purchase of house or vacant land, which supports the upkeep of the island's infrastructure and amenities. These fees collectively contribute to the quality of life that makes Ono Island such a sought-after community.
