THE INVINCIBLE 36 OPEN FISHERMAN: A PERFECT MATCH FOR GULF COAST LIVING
By Meredith Folger Amon
When I see an Invincible 36 Open Fisherman cruising through the waters around Orange Beach and Ono Island, I can’t help but stop and admire it. This boat represents everything I love about our Gulf Coast lifestyle—strength, elegance, and the ability to transition seamlessly from serious offshore fishing to a leisurely day on the water with family and friends.
The Invincible brand has long been respected for its offshore performance, and the 36 Open Fisherman is one of its most versatile models. At 36 feet 10 inches in overall length, with a beam of 10 feet, it strikes a perfect balance—large enough to handle long offshore runs into the Gulf, yet nimble enough for our back bays, canals, and marinas. With a draft of just 22 inches, it can comfortably navigate shallow waters around Ono Island while still boasting the deep-V hull design that delivers a smooth, dry ride when the seas pick up.
Performance That Matches the Gulf Coast
The model I recently saw was powered by twin Mercury 400 Verados in white, delivering a combined 800 horsepower. With this setup, the boat is capable of cruising well over 50 mph and reaching a top speed of nearly 70 mph. For boaters in Orange Beach and along the Gulf, that kind of performance is more than just impressive—it’s practical. Whether you’re running out for a day of red snapper fishing, cruising to Pensacola for lunch by boat, or making the run to the oil rigs for tuna, the Invincible 36 offers both speed and range.
Speaking of range, the 475-gallon fuel capacity gives this boat more than 500 nautical miles at cruise, which means fewer fuel stops and more time on the water. That’s a huge advantage for those of us who like to maximize every day spent offshore.
Comfort and Fishing Capability
What makes the 36 so appealing is that it’s not just about horsepower and speed—it’s also designed for serious fishing and comfortable living. The large insulated fish boxes, multiple livewells, and tackle storage make it tournament-ready. Rod holders line the gunwales and T-top, while the wide-open deck space ensures there’s room to work no matter how many anglers you have aboard.
At the helm, there’s comfortable three-across seating with bolster-style leaning posts and a tackle station behind. The console is spacious and houses a head compartment inside, which makes long days on the water much easier for everyone aboard. Electronics are typically Garmin, with room for dual screens to help you navigate with confidence.
Why It’s Ideal for Orange Beach and Ono Island
For those who live in Orange Beach, Ono Island, or along the Gulf Coast, the Invincible 36 truly feels like it was built for this area. Our boating lifestyle is unique—we want shallow enough draft to pull up along Robinson Island, but also the offshore range and reliability to make the most of our world-class fishing grounds. The Invincible 36 delivers both.
Another advantage is the bridge clearance of just over nine feet, which makes it easy to tuck into local marinas and even under some of our bridges without concern. It’s a boat you can keep at your waterfront home and know it will perform whether you’re taking a casual sunset cruise or running far into the Gulf.
Price Range
The price for a new Invincible 36 Open Fisherman typically falls between $700,000 and $850,000, depending on options, engines, and electronics. While that’s certainly an investment, it’s one that holds value in our market. Well-maintained pre-owned models often sell quickly here on the Gulf Coast, particularly in Orange Beach where performance boats are in high demand.
Boats and Homes: A Lifestyle Connection
One of the things I often remind my clients is that choosing the right boat is only part of the Gulf Coast lifestyle—the other part is having a home that makes it easy to enjoy it. Many of the waterfront homes for sale on Ono Island feature deep-water docks perfect for an Invincible. Imagine stepping out from your back porch, walking down your pier, and firing up 800 horsepower to head offshore—it’s a seamless extension of homeownership here.
If you’re considering a move to the Gulf Coast, or if you’re already here and want to pair the right boat with the right property, the Invincible 36 Open Fisherman is worth your attention. It embodies everything this lifestyle represents: freedom, performance, elegance, and practicality.
For me, seeing one cruise past always reminds me why I love calling this place home. Our real estate market and our boating culture go hand in hand, and the Invincible 36 might just be the perfect boat to complement your dream home on the water.

There’s something deeply Southern about the way Ono Island breathes — the salt air, the sway of marsh grass, and the rhythm of tide and light. Here along Old River, the sun and wind dictate the day as surely as the church bells…
