There are coastal towns where boating is a pleasant pastime, and then there is Orange Beach, Alabama, where life seems to arrange itself around the water.
It is a place best understood in layers: silver-roofed homes, protected canals, white boats gathered in the marinas and broad ribbons of blue leading toward Perdido Pass and the Gulf. That layered landscape inspired the original artwork accompanying this story.…
