When I walk a vacant lot on Ono Island, I rarely see just dirt, trees, sand, or a future driveway. I see the beginning of a coastal home: the elevation, the water flow, the building pad, the future garage, the outdoor living area, the dock possibilities, the landscaping, the privacy, and the way the home may eventually live with the island itself.
On Ono Island, new home construction often begins long before framing, windows, rooflines, and finishes. In many cases, one of the most important early steps is bringing in sand or suitable fill material to elevate and prepare the homesite.
