When a buyer asks me what life on Ono Island is really like, I tell them this: you can be as social as you want here.
I have advised buyers on Ono Island full-time for years. The water brings people here. What they discover next is how much is already in place — clubs, traditions, and shared amenities that give the island its rhythm. Much of the social side of island life gathers at the Harriett Cockrell Center (HCC). The recreation side lives at the Ono North Clubhouse and on the water.

What clubs can you join on Ono Island?
Here are a few of the clubs and traditions I have written about. There are many more, and new ones come and go with the seasons.

The Ono Island Mahjong Club
The club plays in the HCC card room, which members like to call “The Mahjong Room,” on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and on Tuesday evenings.

The Ladies Club
One of the island’s long-standing clubs, and an easy way to get involved, share interests, and meet neighbors.
The Men’s Club
Another of the island’s established clubs — part of what gives Ono Island both privacy and connection.
The Gardening Club
For residents who love what grows here. One more way to share an interest with neighbors.
Steak Night
A popular monthly tradition at the HCC, open to Ono Island residents and their guests. It feels like a big neighborhood cookout, and it is where you hear about new happenings and meet new residents.
Cornhole and Neighborhood Gatherings
A monthly cornhole gathering organized by a rotating group of neighbors, usually at someone’s home or backyard. Add potlucks, fishing tournaments, and holiday gatherings, and the calendar fills quickly.

What amenities does Ono Island offer?
Pools, courts, a private boat launch, on-island security, and emergency services are already part of island life. That matters to how the island lives, and it matters in real estate.

The Harriett Cockrell Center (HCC)
The island’s gathering place. HOA meetings are held here, and so are community events and many club gatherings. It has a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious indoor area, and a covered patio.
Ono North Clubhouse, Pools, and Fitness
Just minutes inside the back gate: an outdoor pool, an indoor heated pool for year-round swimming, a fitness center with cardio machines and free weights, a weight room, and men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers.
Tennis, Pickleball, and Basketball
Outdoor tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts at the Ono North Clubhouse, with additional tennis courts near the HCC.
Green Space, Playground, and Food Trucks
Next to the HCC, near the Ono Island water tower and close to the central boat launch: a maintained green space and a well-equipped playground. On select weekends, local food trucks roll in.
The Private Boat Launch (Ono Landing)
Inside the gate and recently redone, with three docks and ample parking for trailers and boats. It is a big reason interior-lot owners can live the boating life too.
Private Marinas: Ono Harbour and Ono Mar
Two small sister subdivisions with private marina access. Marina rights are tied to ownership within those subdivisions, not sold to the public.
24/7 Gated Security and the Bridge
Guards at both the main gate and the back gate, around the clock. The island is reached by a privately owned bridge, and the entrance now has three defined lanes for RFID users, guests, and contractors.
Fire Station and EMTs
Ono Island has its own fire station, staffed by trained professionals and emergency medical technicians around the clock.

How do new residents find their people?
Most of it begins at the HCC. Steak Night is where you hear about new happenings, catch up with friends, and get to know new residents. From there, a club invitation or a cornhole night usually follows.

How will I get on the water?
