Dinner on Ono Island: A Culinary Experience on the Gulf Coast
As a resident of Ono Island in Orange Beach, Alabama, I’m constantly inspired by the rich, fresh seafood available right here on the Gulf Coast. This evening, I’m embracing the coastal lifestyle with a dinner that truly celebrates the incredible flavors of the sea and land.
On the menu? Live lobster, succulent salmon stuffed with crab meat, a perfectly seared black Angus New York strip steak, and a side of fresh asparagus.
Where to Buy the Freshest Seafood To create a meal like this, you need the freshest ingredients, and I’m lucky to have access to some of the best seafood markets in the area. My favorite places to buy fresh seafood are Perdido Bay Seafood, located at 13506 Perdido Key Dr, Suite 101, Pensacola, FL, and Joe Patti's Seafood, located at 524 S B St, Pensacola, FL. Both of these markets offer fresh seafood and fish, straight off the boat, combined with the warm, welcoming southern hospitality that the Gulf Coast is known for.
The Fresh Lobster Experience The highlight of the evening is the live lobster, purchased fresh and cooked to perfection. There’s something truly special about preparing lobster at its freshest—it results in a tender, succulent culinary experience that simply melts in your mouth. Boiled just right, and served with a rich, melted butter sauce and a touch of fresh lemon, it’s the kind of dish that makes you appreciate the bounty of the Gulf.
Salmon Stuffed with Crab Meat Next up is salmon stuffed with crab meat, a combination that perfectly melds rich flavors from the ocean. The buttery texture of the salmon pairs beautifully with the tender crab meat, creating a dish that’s both hearty and elegant. I’ll be baking the salmon, letting the flavors of the sea take center stage.
Fresh Asparagus To complement the richness of the seafood, I’m serving fresh asparagus—lightly seasoned and roasted to perfection. Asparagus adds a crisp, vibrant touch to balance the richness of the lobster and salmon, creating a well-rounded, satisfying dinner.
Dinner on Ono Island But this evening’s dinner is more than just a celebration of the sea—it’s also a tribute to the land. To accompany the seafood, I’m preparing a perfectly grilled black Angus New York strip steak. This combination of surf and turf embodies my love for the ocean and the land, bringing together the best of both worlds.
There’s something truly special about preparing a feast on Ono Island. With the Gulf breeze in the air and fresh ingredients sourced locally, it’s an experience that goes beyond just eating—it’s a celebration of the island’s natural beauty and the coastal lifestyle.
I hope this inspires you to bring a little bit of the Gulf Coast to your dinner table. Cheers to good food, great company, and the unparalleled flavors of Ono Island!
