Watching the Sunrise on Thanksgiving Morning at the Ono Island Boat Launch

Thanksgiving mornings hold a special kind of magic, and this year, I found myself drawn to the quiet serenity of the Ono Island boat launch. As I arrived, the sky was just beginning to stir—streaks of pink and orange softly painted the horizon, hinting at the grandeur to come. The stillness was palpable, broken only by the gentle lapping of the water against the dock. It was a moment to breathe deeply, reflect, and give thanks.

Standing there, with the cool morning air brushing against my face, I couldn’t help but think about how much life has changed over the past few years. Moving to Orange Beach and making Ono Island my home has been nothing short of transformative. There’s something about this place—the way the water reflects the sunlight, the tranquil rhythm of the tides—that nurtures both peace and inspiration.

As the sun began to crest over the horizon, spilling golden light across the bay, I thought about the many things I’m grateful for. First, I’m thankful for the opportunity to live and work in such a beautiful, dynamic place. Helping people find their dream homes or sell a property they’ve loved is more than a career—it’s a calling. I often think about the families who gather in the homes I’ve helped them find, sharing meals, laughter, and traditions. Today, it felt fitting to take a moment to honor those moments of connection.

ONO ISLAND THANKSGIVING

I’m also deeply grateful for the relationships I’ve built here. Whether it’s with clients, friends, or colleagues, the sense of community in Orange Beach and Ono Island is unlike anywhere else. I think about people who share their knowledge and passion for this area to help others. The privilege of being part of someone’s journey, of helping them see the potential of a property or imagine the lifestyle they can create here, is a gift I never take for granted.

Thanksgiving is also a time for storytelling, and this morning brought back memories of when I first visited Ono Island years ago. I remember being struck by the way the island seemed to wrap you in its charm.  There’s something timeless about its beauty—the soft rustle of the wind through the marsh grass, the glint of sunlight on the water, the way mornings like these invite you to slow down and soak it all in.

As I watched the light fully embrace the day, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. The sunrise reminded me that each day is a new opportunity—a chance to grow, to help, and to celebrate the little joys. This morning, my joy was simple: a quiet moment of reflection at the water’s edge, surrounded by the unparalleled beauty of Ono Island.

Thank you for taking this journey with me. Wherever you are this Thanksgiving, I hope you find your own moments of peace and gratitude.
