The Morning My Friend Surprised Me With a Sky Surfer Parasailing Adventure

One spontaneous “yes” gave me an unforgettable new view of Orange Beach, the Gulf of America and the coastal community I feel so blessed to call home.

Parasailing Orange Beach Alabama

It began as a simple invitation to breakfast.

On the Sunday before Labor Day, my friend asked if I wanted to meet her that morning. I happily said yes, thinking we would enjoy breakfast, catch up and then I would head to the office. I had quite a bit of work waiting for me, and anyone who knows me well knows that I am very good at finding a reason to work—even on a holiday weekend.

In the middle of breakfast, my friend looked at me and casually asked, “Do you want to go parasailing today?”

I said, “Well, I’m supposed to go to the office. I have quite a bit of work to do—but I have always wanted to go parasailing. When are you thinking?”

Her answer was wonderfully simple:

“In an hour.”

There was no time to overthink it, rearrange it or turn it into something to do “one day.” Something inside me simply said, Let’s do it.

I am a workaholic, and had she not surprised me at the very last minute, I probably would have spent the day at my desk. Instead, I said yes—and it turned into one of the most fun and memorable days I have ever had.

“Sometimes the most unforgettable days begin when a good friend gives you almost no time to talk yourself out of an adventure.”

My First Parasailing Experience in Orange Beach

Orange Beach Alabama Parasailing

The early September weather could not have been more beautiful. The sun was shining, the sky was clear and the Gulf of America was an extraordinary shade of turquoise. It was the kind of coastal day that makes you stop and remember just how beautiful Orange Beach truly is.

I had never been parasailing, so I did not know exactly what to expect. I imagined it might feel frightening or intensely fast. What surprised me most was how peaceful it became once we lifted away from the boat.

We floated through the air, carried above the water with the coastline unfolding beneath us. The sounds from below softened. The breeze surrounded us, and for a few extraordinary minutes, it felt as though we were suspended between the turquoise Gulf and the blue September sky.

It was exhilarating, calming and almost dreamlike at the same time.

I have spent so much of my life near the water, but seeing Orange Beach from this vantage point gave me an entirely new appreciation for the place I call home.

Seeing Orange Beach Real Estate From Above

From high above the Gulf, I could see so much of the Orange Beach coastline at once. I recognized Turquoise Place, Grand Pointe, the condominiums near Perdido Pass and the bridge connecting the different sides of our coastal community.

Looking east, I could follow the shoreline toward the homes and condominiums near the Flora-Bama. Looking west, my view stretched down the coast toward Gulf Shores. Buildings that I know from the road, the water and years of studying Orange Beach real estate suddenly became part of one sweeping coastal landscape.

I could also see beautiful sportfishing boats out in the Gulf below us. From the air, they looked almost miniature against the expanse of turquoise water. It was incredible to watch the activity offshore and to see how closely our boating culture, beaches, condominiums and waterfront communities are connected.

That aerial perspective helped me understand Orange Beach in a new way. I could see the relationship between Perdido Pass and the Gulf, the location of our beachfront condominium towers and the way the shoreline changes as it continues toward Gulf Shores.

A Different Way to Understand Coastal Real Estate

Real estate here is about more than bedrooms, square footage and a view from a balcony. It is about how a property connects you to the Gulf, the beach, boating, fishing, restaurants and the natural beauty that defines daily life in Orange Beach. Seeing the coastline from above made those connections even clearer to me.

Why Experiences Like This Matter to Me as a Real Estate Advisor

When I help someone purchase an Orange Beach condominium, waterfront home or vacation property, I am not simply introducing them to real estate. I am sharing a lifestyle that I personally love.

From above, I thought about the different experiences offered by properties along this coastline. Some condominiums place owners near Perdido Pass, where boats travel between the back bays and open Gulf. Others offer expansive beachfront views, convenient access to restaurants and entertainment or a quieter position farther along the shoreline.

Each location has its own personality. That is why I believe firsthand knowledge is so valuable. I want my buyers to understand not only what a property looks like inside, but also how its location may shape the way they experience Orange Beach.

Parasailing gave me another layer of perspective—one I can now carry into conversations about coastal orientation, water views, proximity to the pass, boating activity and the overall feeling of different stretches of the Orange Beach shoreline.

Most importantly, it renewed my excitement about living here. High above the Gulf, looking across miles of coastline, I could not think of anywhere else I would rather be.

“I feel incredibly blessed to live in paradise, to sell real estate here and to share my genuine passion for the Gulf Coast with others.”

A Reminder to Say Yes

I am so grateful that my friend surprised me—and that she only gave me an hour to decide.

Had we planned it weeks in advance, I might have found a reason to postpone it. I might have decided I needed to work or convinced myself that another day would be more convenient. Instead, her wonderfully spontaneous invitation gave me the push I needed to say yes.

That “yes” gave us an unforgettable day together. It gave me my first parasailing experience, a breathtaking new view of Orange Beach and a beautiful reminder that living at the beach should include making time to enjoy it.

If you have ever watched a parasail floating over the Gulf and wondered what the view might be like, my personal answer is simple: it is even more beautiful than you imagine.

Sky Surfer made my first parasailing adventure an experience I will always remember. My friend made it happen by turning an ordinary Sunday breakfast into something extraordinary.
