Fishing Tournaments in Orange Beach, Alabama for 2026: My Local Guide to the Season

Orange Beach Fishing Tournaments

By Meredith Folger Amon, Licensed in Alabama and Florida

Tournament season is one of the most exciting times of year along Orange Beach. The boats are polished, the docks are buzzing, and the weigh-ins bring a kind of energy that reminds me why so many people fall in love with our waterfront lifestyle in the first place. Whether you enjoy serious offshore competition, walking the docks to watch the fleet come in, or searching for a property that keeps you close to the marinas and the water, this is one of the most electric stretches of the year on the Gulf Coast.

Orange Beach Billfish Classic

May 12–16, 2026 • The Wharf Marina

The 30th Annual Orange Beach Billfish Classic remains one of the signature events of our season and is part of the 2026 Gulf Coast Triple Crown schedule. The captain and crew party is on May 12, registration and optional cash awards activity on May 13, the captain’s meeting and departure sequence on May 14, then weigh-ins on May 15 and 16 at The Wharf.  There are Blue marlin, tuna, dolphin, wahoo, and billfish catch-and-release categories, with blue marlin releases worth 500 points and white marlin, sailfish, and spearfish releases worth 200 points. The OBBC has donated more than $1,050,000 to The Billfish Foundation and other qualified conservation organizations, and it is the only Gulf Coast tournament owned and operated by tournament fishermen. In 2025, the winning blue marlin weighed 640.2 pounds, which gives you a sense of the caliber of fish and teams this event attracts.

Gulf Coast Masters

May 20–23, 2026 • Orange Beach Marina

This year's Mobile Big Game Fishing Club’s Gulf Coast Masters is the 49th Annual 2026 Memorial Day Tournament. Registration and the captain’s meeting on May 20, a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start at Perdido Pass Farewell Buoy on May 21, fishing on May 22 with an if-needed evening weigh dock, and final fishing, weigh dock hours, and awards on May 23. This is one of the weekends when Orange Beach Marina really comes alive with tournament traffic, serious crews, and big-boat energy.

Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo

June 5–7, 2026 • Flora-Bama Ole River Grill Beach Area

The Flora-Bama Fishing Rodeo has a completely different personality from the big billfish events, and that is part of the appeal. It is open to anglers across a wide range of ages and experience levels, with weigh-ins staged next to the Ole River Grill beach area and awards on June 7 at the Flora-Bama Yacht Club stage. The official pages highlight everything from broad rodeo divisions to optional championships like King Mackerel, Offshore Slam, and Red Snapper Jackpot categories. For a lot of people, this is the most approachable way to step into tournament season and be part of the fun without needing a full offshore program.

MBGFC Junior Angler Tournament

July 3–5, 2026 • Orange Beach Marina

The MBGFC Junior Angler Tournament is one of the most enjoyable weekends on the calendar because it gives young anglers a real chance to compete and learn the tournament rhythm. Categories range from billfish catch-and-release to inshore and nearshore species like trout, flounder, king mackerel, cobia, triple tail, and more. Eligibility is for anglers born on July 3, 2008, or later, and the schedule includes check-in and the captain’s meeting on July 3, weigh dock hours on July 4 and July 5, and awards that Sunday afternoon.

Blue Marlin Grand Championship

July 14–19, 2026 • The Wharf Marina

The Blue Marlin Grand Championship is still the event that stops people in their tracks. The Greatest Show in Sportfishing: crew events begin July 14, team check-in and the kick-off party are July 15, the rules meeting and boat departure sequence are July 16, then official weigh-ins follow on July 17 and July 18 before the awards breakfast on July 19. The event benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and has raised a quarter of a million dollars to date. When people picture the most dramatic tournament-stage moment on the Gulf Coast, this is usually what they have in mind.

Why Tournament Season Matters in Orange Beach Real Estate

From a real estate standpoint, tournament season says a lot about how people actually live and invest here. Buyers ask me about marina proximity, boat slip options, bridge clearances, canal depth, quick access to Perdido Pass, and whether a property fits the kind of boating lifestyle they want to enjoy year-round. That is one reason I tell people that boating on the Gulf Coast is not just a hobby here. It shapes how people choose homes, condos, and even where they want to keep their boat.

If you are looking for a home, condo, or lot that keeps you close to Orange Beach, the marinas, and the tournament rhythm that makes this stretch of coast so distinctive, you can also explore more listings and local market insight at SearchTheGulf.com.
