Each year, one tournament stands out as the signature kickoff to the Gulf Coast’s deep-sea fishing season—the Gulf Coast Masters, hosted by none other than the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club (MBGFC). This Memorial Day weekend tradition isn’t just about who lands the biggest marlin—it’s about legacy, sport, and the remarkable community of anglers who return to Orange Beach Marina each spring to compete, connect, and celebrate the lifestyle that defines this coast.
A Tournament Backed by Heritage and Prestige
The MBGFC is one of the most respected offshore sportfishing organizations on the Gulf Coast. Known for hosting world-class tournaments and upholding the traditions of big game fishing in the region, their involvement ensures that the Gulf Coast Masters remains one of the most competitive and well-organized events of the season.
As a real estate advisor living in Orange Beach, I’ve seen firsthand how events like this bring energy and pride to the entire coastal community. From Gulf Shores to Perdido Key, it’s a moment that showcases what makes our waters—and our way of life—so exceptional.

The MBGFC Legacy and the Coastal Lifestyle
MBGFC’s role in curating and growing these world-class tournaments has reinforced Alabama’s place on the map for serious offshore fishing. It’s not just about the sport—it’s about bringing people together around a shared appreciation for the Gulf, for tradition, and for excellence on the water.
This same passion is what draws many of my clients to buy, build, or invest in homes on Ono Island, Orange Beach, and Gulf Shores. Whether it’s a private canal home with deepwater access or a new construction project with room for a sportfishing vessel, these properties support a lifestyle where tournaments like the Gulf Coast Masters are just part of the rhythm of life.
