One of the most interesting parts of living near the Intracoastal Waterway is watching the variety of vessels that pass through the Orange Beach and Ono Island area.

Center-console fishing boats head toward Perdido Pass. Cruising yachts make their way between Gulf Coast destinations. Towboats steadily guide barges through the protected east-west corridor. Marine contractors move equipment between waterfront projects.

This mixture of recreation and commerce is not accidental. The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway was created as a working transportation route—and it remains one today.

More Sales, Faster Decisions and a Powerful Ole River Luxury Market

Ono Island activity doubled year over year, residential sales volume increased by nearly 160%, and three Ole River transactions generated more than half of June 2026’s home-sales volume.

June 2026 was an exceptional month for Ono Island real estate in Orange Beach, Alabama. Fourteen properties closed, compared with seven during June 2025.

The number of residential home sales increased from six to 13, while total closed volume rose from approximately $9.29 million to nearly $22.95 million.

The most important part of this comparison, however, is the change in the types of properties that sold.
